Star Radiology is committed to providing exceptional diagnostic interpretation services to radiology groups and imaging centers, focusing on outpatient imaging. Working closely with each client, the team facilitates accurate and cost-effective diagnosis and treatment of patients while minimizing costs and optimizing efficiency.

With board-certified and fellowship-trained radiologists on deck, Star Radiology addresses the overwhelming talent gap in the industry caused by the shortage of seasoned professionals. The job market is tight, and retiring radiologists far outnumber the new radiologists minted every year from residency programs––a true catch-22 situation. This means studies produced yearly are exponentially increasing while the number of radiologists available to read them is shrinking, leading to burnout and inefficiencies. The Star Radiology team makes a difference by seamlessly integrating with practices, ranging from single-doctor clinics to large health systems, to reduce the volume of image readings they must do themselves and boost efficiency.

“Our job is to help imaging centers by providing extra manpower so the radiologists that we work with are relieved of the burden, and there is no delay in patient care,” says Dr. Darren M. Buono, CEO, co-founder, board-certified radiologist at Star Radiology.

Another bonus radiology groups and imaging centers experience by partnering with Star Radiology is that they don’t have to recruit additional doctors to handle specific tests.

The team specializes in brain, spine, and orthopedic imaging with a core background in injuries of all kinds, including those incurred by professional athletes.

Star Radiology has expertise in MRI, CT, and X-rays. Its subspeciality reads include a specific imaging protocol called diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), which the team has been using to test for traumatic brain injury for the past six or seven years. It has performed more than 10,000 imaging reads to date with DTI.

DTI imaging procedure is often combined with NeuroQuant software, which is used for volumetric MRI processing. Radiologists use the resulting imaging sequences to determine if there’s any evidence suggesting the patient may have had a traumatic brain injury (TBI). This advanced level of testing is essential because TBIs are a dysfunction deep within the brain and are difficult to detect. Each report reflects the team’s extensive experience, answering questions in a definitive, logical, and clinically relevant way that results in precise patient care and proper coverage.

Another advantage for clients is access to equipment and ideas they may have yet to learn about or understand. For example, the Star team helped one customer revamp their infrastructure by using new technologies that gave more accurate image readings and made them more efficient. As a result, the practice experienced 50 percent growth within a year.

Star Radiology is a big proponent of artificial intelligence and leverages it to streamline operations like generating reports quickly, answering phones, and reviewing images, allowing radiologists to focus more on readings.

The group maintains a small administrative footprint because its advanced software can handle many day-to-day tasks. This means the support staff can spend more time on customer service, such as ensuring that physicians are connected to the radiologist who interprets images for them. It also makes the entire operation seamless.

Star Radiology’s quality control program exceeds industry standards, resulting in fewer image reading discrepancies. Each radiologist on the team undergoes a thorough vetting process before being hired.

Powered by a panel of expert radiologists with an emphasis on staying on the leading edge of technology, Star Radiology is a preferred partner for imaging providers. The team provides radiology groups with an alternative to the arduous task of recruiting from an ever-shrinking pool of available physicians and ensures they will be ready for whatever innovations the future brings.
