Technology advancements are also influencing how the elderly interact with healthcare providers, communicate with loved ones, and carry out daily tasks such as grocery shopping. IoT can also assist seniors with day-to-day tasks

Fremont, CA: According to a recent healthinsurance.com poll, more than 60 percent of Americans aged 65 and up are open to using telehealth. More than 40 percent of those polled said they had used telemedicine solutions since the outbreak began, with 30 percent using it at least once a month. Furthermore, 25 percent of seniors currently use smartphone health apps, and 28 percent use a wearable to monitor their health. According to statistics, modern elderly people are technologically savvy enough to learn and apply smart solutions.

Safety and Home Security

Connected devices make it easier for seniors to live safely. Every year, more than one-third of older adults over the age of 65 falls. Fall injuries are one of the top twenty most expensive medical conditions. This category of smart devices measures movement patterns prevents and detects falls, and tracks a person's location. Caregivers can install a motion sensor that sends an alert if there is no movement detected for an extended period of time.
