A full-body detox involves following a certain diet, fasting, supplementing, or using a sauna to purge toxins.


FREMONT, CA: A full detox program comprises consistent physical activity, a well-rounded diet, and adequate hydration to eliminate harmful compounds from the body. It involves consuming a certain diet, fasting, drinking juice or water, taking vitamins, doing colonic irrigations, utilizing laxatives, saunas, and enemas, and reducing exposure to environmental contaminants. However, there are risks, and some detox products may be detrimental. There is no single definition for whole-body cleansing.


Full-body detoxes may offer health benefits but are unnecessary for most people. The body already has a highly efficient detoxification system for eliminating toxins. Medical conditions, like heavy metal poisoning, may require detoxification assistance, such as chelation therapy. Healthy individuals typically do not require additional detoxification help.


In some cases, detox diets can benefit health, including helping with weight loss, increasing water intake, and supporting liver function. These advantages can, however, be transient and disappear if a person returns to their regular diet. Consuming fruits and vegetables—commonly deficient in the US—may be a part of certain detox diets. In addition to encouraging water consumption, whole-body detoxes help eliminate waste through sweat, urine, and bowel movements. Water is essential for good health.
