The dental implant is a milestone in the dentistry industry and is gaining momentum in recent times on account of the varied technologies that the approach deploys to ensure an increased success rate.

FREMONT, CA: Replacement of teeth, which was often considered to be irreversible, is likely to gain significance in the dental industry via implant technology. That is, for the past five decades, dental implants were merely a myth in treatments that have been highly transformative in recent times as a result of constant innovations in the process of induced dental treatment. First developed in 1965, the titanium dental implant has emerged as a preferred tooth replacement technique since the 1980s owing to its steady integrity to fix within the human bone. Therefore, titanium implants have emerged as a standard of care for patients, aiding function much like the natural tooth.

Implant dentistry has managed to reach greater heights in the current scenario and, thus, is emerging as the fastest-growing segment of all dental services. As a result, the dental implant market is anticipated to be valued at up to 13 billion USD in the future, with further advancements to carve into the implant placement industry for wide availability to patients throughout. That is, dental implant technologies are decades or centuries old and have gained frantic attention in recent times owing to the technologies applied. These innovations have opened up a new zeal of opportunities by sprouting possibilities in progressive tooth implant procedures.

Initially, chairside scanners were only used to capture hard tissue for single crown impressions. With elevated technological evolution in recent years, recording highly accurate impressions has likely become possible. These renditions incorporate both hard tissue and moveable mucosa for denture fabrication. Similar to burgeoning implant technologies, capturing digital interpretations encompasses a primary learning curve that shapes the dentist into an expert clinician. Hence, mastering the technique prevents the dental physician from opting for physical impressions, which are often error-prone and distorted.
