For 18 years, Angel MedFlight has been a lifeline in the sky, turning distance into a bridge to healing. As the largest fixed-wing air ambulance provider in the U.S., Angel MedFlight breaks geographical barriers, ensuring critically ill patients reach the world’s best medical facilities. Committed to the top patient care and safety standards, Angel MedFlight ensures every transport meets rigorous medical protocols and is staffed by critical care-trained flight crews.

“We help thousands of families by transporting patients to specialty centers for advanced treatment, repatriating travelers back to the U.S. for care, or even reuniting loved ones during end-of-life situations,” says Christine Aguilera, CEO.

Even in a country with some of the best healthcare facilities in the world, accessibility remains a challenge. Patients with conditions like cancer, spinal cord injuries, or traumatic brain injuries often require immediate and specialized care that may not be available in their vicinity. Angel MedFlight is a critical link that transports patients to elite medical centers.

“We’ve transported patients from all 50 states and 41 countries, ensuring that they reach the right specialists and medical facilities, regardless of distance,” says Kimberly Halloran, Vice President of Business Development.

A Flight Plan for Healing: Smooth, Stress-Free Medical Transport

Ensuring access to specialized care is the first step; coordinating smooth transport makes a difference. At the core of Angel MedFlight’s operations is a three-step process designed to simplify medical transport: Connect, Coordinate, and Complete. Patients or healthcare professionals can easily reach Angel MedFlight via phone or chat, triggering an immediate response. From there, the team expertly manages every aspect of medical flight logistics, ensuring a smooth, stress-free experience for patients and healthcare providers. With a bedside-to-bedside approach, Angel MedFlight delivers the highest standard of care, overseeing all medical and transport details from start to finish.

This streamlined coordination is especially valuable for case managers at healthcare facilities, who rely on Angel MedFlight to navigate the complexities of medical transport. “If you were a case manager who needed to transfer a patient to a Center of Excellence, you would make one call to us, and we would handle everything from there. We take care of the entire transport process, including ground and air logistics, so that healthcare professionals can focus on patient care,” explains Aguilera.

Life-saving Missions: Stories of Hope and Survival

Angel MedFlight has transported patients of all ages, from fragile neonatal infants to a 105-year-old patient. Each transport reflects the company’s dedication to expert medical assistance during a patient’s most vulnerable moments.

One such case is a 20-year-old college athlete who was diagnosed with ALK+ Large B Cell Lymphoma, a rare and aggressive cancer. When standard treatments failed, her only hope was a Phase II clinical trial (Bel-Mat). Her condition had deteriorated—she was weak, in pain, and running out of time. She needed to be flown immediately for screening and treatment.

Given her critical condition, ground transport was not an option. Angel MedFlight swiftly arranged her safe transfer on a medically equipped Learjet. She was admitted to the ICU upon arrival, just in time to qualify for the trial. A physician later told the family, “If she had arrived just one day later, she would not have qualified for the trial.” Thanks to Angel MedFlight’s rapid response, the young woman entered the trial, beat cancer, received a stem cell transplant, and returned home. Today, she is living a full and vibrant life.

A Life-Saving Collaboration

Beyond individual patient stories, the company also supports and empowers healthcare institutions. By enabling hospitals to expand their service areas, Angel MedFlight helps top-tier medical centers treat more patients in need of their specialized care while strengthening their reputations as Centers of Excellence.

One notable example is its partnership with a world-renowned facility that specializes in treating extreme eating disorders.

A 26-year-old woman with severe anorexia was admitted to a hospital in Virginia at a life-threatening weight of just 74 pounds. Her condition had deteriorated to the point where she was contemplating suicide, and previous treatment attempts had resulted in refeeding syndrome. This dangerous complication can lead to seizures, heart failure, coma, or death. With no viable treatment options left, her physicians considered hospice care.

As a last resort, her doctors referred her to the preeminent severe eating disorder facility in the country which was 1,500 miles away. Recognizing the patient’s acuity and urgency of the treatment, Angel MedFlight was called to provide a rapid transfer. Working closely with the hospital, Angel MedFlight confirmed insurance benefits within hours, ensuring the young woman could travel without any out-of-pocket expenses.

Within 24 hours, an Angel MedFlight Critical Care Flight Nurse and Critical Care Paramedic arrived at the young woman’s bedside, transferring her using hospital-grade mobile equipment. Aboard a medically configured and equipped Learjet, Angel MedFlight’s medical team carefully monitored her vitals. Upon arrival at the facility, the Angel MedFlight team transitioned the patient’s care seamlessly, beginning her path to recovery

A Gold Standard in Safety and Service

Angel MedFlight upholds the highest standards in both medical and aviation operations. The company is accredited by NAAMTA (National Accreditation Alliance of Medical Transport Applications), a certification it first obtained in 2015 and renews every three years to validate its operational excellence. These rigorous standards ensure that every transport meets the highest safety, quality, and patient care benchmarks.

Beyond expert medical transport, Angel MedFlight also navigates the complexities of insurance with a dedicated in-house team that verifies benefits, streamlines approvals, and expedites claims—reducing financial and logistical stress for patients and case managers.

With over 35,000 successful flight and ground transfers and a network of over 21,000 case managers, Angel MedFlight is a trusted partner for hospitals and healthcare facilities. The company aims to expand its reach further, enhancing its ability to serve more patients worldwide.

“Our mission is to bring hope to families in medical crises, ensuring patients receive life-saving care wherever they are,” adds Aguilera.
